Before & After   These are some of the radios Third Bay Radios have worked on that really came out nice in the end. Most of these we have found in antique shows or on Ebay in really bad shape. They needed a good amount of time and elbow grease but I believe it was worth it. Click on the pictures to see more detail and background. We have dealt with cracked cases, peeling lamination, fadded dial covers, house paint on bakolite, incorrect capacitor placement by techs thirty years ago, missing speakers, missing antennas, shorted transformers, big black scary spiders, etc.. Just some of the problems we have dealt with successfully in the past. If we do not know the best way to repair something we do research untill we do. Most of the time we discover that the best solutions are simple. We are always learning something and rarely give up on a radio.
We remove big scary spiders free of charge! The most valuble factor on how nice a radio works or looks when finished is time and care. Time is what we put into a radio not work. The work is fun, which makes it not work but play. Our goal is to get a radio to the best condition it possibly can and have it used and enjoyed for years. Its very exciting after playing with a radio for a week or two and finally being ready to turn it on after being dead for sometimes 40 years. Its extremely satisfying when it finally warms up and a familiar oldie but goodie comes blaring out. Its even more satifing to see others get the same kick out of a old radio that still works. First wonder, excitement, then a satisfied smirk once the sound of the radio is heard. 30 Pine Street, Scotia, NY 12302 518-466-8673 info@thirdbayradios.com |
