The Belmont "Streamliner"   This is a 1946 BELMONT 6D111, The Belmont "Streamliner". It is one the most prized iconic art deco radios out there. First made in 1940 as the model 638, it was re-introduced after WW2 in 1946 as the 6D111. This is another one that has gotten Third Bay Radio's full restoration and it shows. This is one sharp looking radio now and is ready for use. Work Done This case HAD hairline cracks. NOT anymore! It has been expertly repaired using two part epoxy and many laborious hours. A fresh coat of Mohawk light antique ivory paint was has been applied giving it new life. All resistors have been checked and all capacitors have been replaced. A new polarized power plug has been installed for safety. Tubes tested strong and chassis polished by hand to a shine. Dial face is in good shape along with a clear dial shield freshly polished. Original push buttons and knobs to set. Original back with built in antenna. Fresh bright gold Belmont logo decal applied correctly. Picture does not show it but decal has gold foil writing to it. A great deal of care and time went into this radio restoring it back to it's glory. This model is always looker and this particular one is no exception. Good Points on radio We have breathed new life into a radio that no one wanted because of it's case. It was army green and marked for parts. It was all there just needed TLC. Wish I had a before picture because this specific radio was a diamond in the rough. Again with this model, looks amazing and is highly sensitive. This SIX tube radio picks up a lot of stations through out the entire AM band. The fresh paint job has a good finish to it and does not over power the original antique look to the radio. It looks extremely well cared for. The electronics are solid, the case has been saved and is in great shape. Iconic art deco. This radio is it. Bad Points on radio Case WAS cracked but is repaired correctly. Undetectable from outside of case were crack was repaired. Original back is aged and worn around mounting holes and had to reinforce back, check picture. Original factory sticker on bottom is no longer present. To far gone to salvage so cleaned off. |
